2019 was truly the year of the room—the conference room that is! Looking back, I can’t help but be proud of what BlueJeans—and particularly the BlueJeans Rooms team—has accomplished. We were in lockstep with our customers who are realizing the real benefit of providing smart, modern meeting room technology to increase collaboration and productivity.
As a result of all of the hard work the amazing team put in to delivering industry-driving solutions that excite our customers over the past 12 months, we saw people getting real value out of Rooms and RaaS—like this Health Tech company that was able to maintain its inclusive culture amid rapid growth after adopting BlueJeans Rooms with Dolby Voice Room!
Released at Enterprise Connect in March, our Rooms-as-a-Service (RaaS) offering combines BlueJeans Rooms licenses and Dolby Voice Room hardware to eliminate the traditional difficulties characteristic with deploying and managing conference rooms.
Seeing as Gartner predicts that by 2020, all new entrants and 80% of historical vendors will offer subscription-based business models, regardless of where the software resides, in 2019 BlueJeans got ahead of the game. According to Ira Weinstein of Recon Research, “BlueJeans and Dolby have clearly uncovered an area of unmet pent-up demand within the collaboration marketplace."
One of the key reasons of our success is working with the right technology partners with whom we can develop solutions that put the needs of our users and customers front and center, while also going above and beyond to provide features that delight them.
BlueJeans and Dolby Voice achieved amazing success in 2019 by providing meeting room solutions that not only satisfy end users and IT managers, but also disrupt the way organizations have typically outfitted meeting rooms. Our valued customers, such as Illumina and Monterey Mushrooms, have been wonderful advocates for our BlueJeans Rooms featuring Dolby Voice Room solution.
We took out the hurdles of typical hardware purchases with the Rooms-as-a-Service offering by providing BlueJeans Rooms software, Dolby Voice Room hardware, support and warranty all in one affordable, simple, monthly price. Since launching in North America, we have expanded our footprint for Rooms-as-a-Service into Western Europe and the UK and will continue to add more countries for our customers in 2020.
We got a lot of love from the analyst world as well. Industry experts such as Recon Research gave Rooms-as-a-Service great reviews and named it a stand out solution to equip huddle spaces. In June, we were honored that BlueJeans Rooms featuring Dolby Voice Room won the 2019 Unified Communications Product of the Year. We heard similar feedback and interest from meeting industry influencers and customers at events throughout the year such as Enterprise Connect, InfoComm and Microsoft Ignite.
November was also a huge month for the BlueJeans team. We brought interoperability to life to make it even easier for customers to join different meeting services. BlueJeans MultiService, available in BlueJeans Rooms featuring Dolby Voice Room (as standard purchase or as-a-Service) or in BlueJeans Rooms software on other endpoints, enables customers to join a variety of meeting solutions such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom and Cisco Webex from the same endpoint.
While the Dolby Voice Room is suitable for all small and medium sized rooms, we wanted to bring the best-of-breed Dolby experience for large conference rooms. Therefore, in November, we introduced BlueJeans Rooms featuring Dolby Voice Room Pro featuring the Dolby Voice Pro camera – a wide angle, PTZ camera that perfectly captures all the action in large conference rooms and briefing centers.
2020 is going to be an amazing year for video conferencing and BlueJeans is ready to ride that wave. With the momentum we’ve gained in 2019, BlueJeans and Dolby are ready to continue to delight and exceed customer expectations in 2020. Wishing you a very happy new year and stay tuned for many exciting things coming from BlueJeans!
