Former Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Autodesk Executives Frank Vella and Mark Strassman Join BlueJeans as Revenue and Product Leaders
September 23, 2016 — Mountain View, CA—BlueJeans Network the global leader in cloud-based video communications, today announced the addition of two industry-leading executives as the company continues the acceleration of video in the enterprise. Frank Vella joins BlueJeans as the company's first Chief Revenue Officer and Mark Strassman becomes Chief Product Officer. Both are prior business customers of BlueJeans who are dedicated to advancing the $36 billion global enterprise video market.
The hires come as BlueJeans has crossed 2 billion video minutes consumed annually on the BlueJeans Enterprise Video Cloud™ platform. Already with millions of users worldwide, BlueJeans has continued to expand its footprint in the enterprise video market by adding around 100 enterprise and midmarket customers within the last quarter alone. The company also recently signed up nearly 200 new business trials in a single day when it announced its unique integration with Facebook Live. This first-of-its-kind offering allows companies, organizations, and brands to create large-scale, interactive broadcast experiences for their own Facebook audiences, extending their reach to potentially millions of people.
"While the company has grown at an impressive pace, we are poised for even stronger results over the next year as we redefine how businesses interact with the people that matter to them-- whether its customers, partners or employees," said Krish Ramakrishnan, CEO of BlueJeans. "Frank and Mark are extraordinarily talented execs who bring depth of experience, scale, and passion for serving the customer with them to BlueJeans. Their additions will accelerate our ability to transform business communications globally."
Vella is an experienced software executive who came to BlueJeans from Hewlett Packard, where he most recently served as Vice President of Worldwide Sales. He has also held senior leadership positions at Virtustream (COO), Quest Software (Global VP of Sales), Microsoft (Managing Director of Sales, Financial Services), and GE (Vice President of Sales). Vella is widely recognized for his ability to scale operations in software, hardware, and services across multiple industries. As BlueJeans' Chief Revenue Officer, he will be responsible for all facets of revenue generation and field operations.
"Never before have I seen such a massive market shift as businesses are awakening to the possibilities of live video across their organizations," said Vella, "We have seen video overtake the consumer market, and it is now rapidly becoming an indispensible part of the workplace."
Strassman has spent over 20 years in general management, operations, product, and marketing leadership roles at the world's top technology companies, including Adobe, Macromedia, Autodesk, Blackboard and multiple start-ups. He is known for creating and directing globally successful products used by billions of people by understanding and tapping into market opportunities. As BlueJeans' Chief Product Officer, Strassman will further expand the company's breadth of product innovation and lead the next generation of video across every industry. "Video communication is at the forefront of a revolution in the enterprise, and BlueJeans is leading the charge," said Strassman. "This is a company that is hyper-focused on delivering what our customers seek-- a level of connectedness and engagement, internally and externally, that is changing how businesses communicate."
BlueJeans' success comes as enterprises rapidly move to a video-first approach for their everyday meetings and large-format events. BlueJeans customers such as Expedia, LinkedIn, Facebook and Red Hat continue to lead the way, growing their video footprint and usage every day.
"As a geographically dispersed global business, video fundamentally changes the way our people collaborate. Both productivity and engagement are improved when we use BlueJeans," said Chris Burgess, Vice President of Information Technology at Expedia. "When the meeting is important, we now don't think of audio as the best method to interact."
