Press Release - Blue Jeans expanding in Australia

New cloud video conferencing service lands in Australia to drive business productivity,

Australian Point of Presence, team and HQ announced

September 12, 2013— SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA – Today, BlueJeans Network – the leader in interoperable video conferencing and webinars that has captured nearly 30 per cent of the global video conferencing services market in just two years – officially launches in Australia.

Blue Jeans boosts collaboration and productivity for businesses with a scalable, easy-to-use service for face-to-face meetings and rich content sharing across the widest range of conference rooms, desktops and mobile devices.

Key to Blue Jeans Network’s growth strategy in Asia Pacific, the company is confirming its commitment to Australia with the launch of a Sydney based Point of Presence (POP) targeted for early 2014, or sooner. Blue Jeans Network is also building a local team and HQ, with Country manager, Tom Longhurst, already appointed.
“The burgeoning bring your own device (BYOD) office culture, rise of the mobile workforce and the increasingly diverse range of devices and form factors available is as true in Australia as it is in our other key markets,” said Stu Aaron, chief commercial officer, Blue Jeans Network. “By bridging business and consumer video conferencing tools, Blue Jeans harnesses current software and hardware capabilities to seamlessly connect people via HD video conferencing.”
Australian opportunity and commitment
The Blue Jeans service is experiencing record growth across all facets of its business, including customers, users, usage, bookings and revenues, largely at the expense of legacy hardware based solutions from industry incumbents such as Cisco and Polycom. Blue Jeans Network has achieved this growth across the US, UK, Canada, Germany and India, and is now looking to emulate this success in the Australian market.
“It’s encouraging to see that the availability of super-fast broadband for businesses and consumers is viewed with such importance in this market,” continued Stu Aaron. “In an era of global teams and remote workers, Blue Jeans aims to help further break down barriers created by geography, time zones and travel costs, and enable meaningful, productive and efficient face-to-face meetings without a hefty price tag.”
Australia is currently the sixth largest market for Blue Jeans Network, with over one million call minutes already consumed, by 60,000 participants from 169 companies. The estimated travel savings for Australians to date is approximately 200 million kilometres.
Australian success to date
Underpinned by the significant take up of the Blue Jeans service in the local market already, Blue Jeans is now looking to build on its broad range of Australian customers; from large corporations and local government, to entrepreneurial start-ups.
99designs pioneered the design contest, where designers submit competing designs in response to customer briefs, with the winner receiving cash payment for their work. With offices in Melbourne, San Francisco, Berlin, Paris and Brazil, and more than 75 staff, international collaboration is key to the success of its business.
Jason Sew Hoy, chief operating officer at 99designs, said, “Blue Jeans gives us flexibility to connect teams across the globe on any kind of device. 99desings uses a combination of existing room systems, Skype, browser clients and smartphones to connect employees distributed across nine countries, each day.”
