Telit Wireless Solutions is an enabler of the global Internet of Things (IoT)/machine-to-machine (M2M) movement. M2M refers to technologies that allow both wireless and wired systems to communicate with other devices of the same type and is considered an integral part of the Internet of Things industry. Telit delivers its extensive portfolio of products and service in over 80 countries. By providing cellular, GNSS, short-to-long range wireless modules plus mobile connectivity services and application enablement platform to onboard edge devices to the Internet of Things, Telit is an industry-leading IoT engine enabling the creation of applications with fast deployment and life cycle management.
Since its founding 12 years ago, Telit has experienced a period of rapid growth that has resulted in both a growing employee headcount and 40 geographically dispersed sites around the globe. Much of this growth is attributed to acquisitions Telit has made that present a new set of challenges: how do you quickly and efficiently begin collaborating with newly integrated employees when each organisation has a unique IT infrastructure?
Outfitting conference rooms with compatible video conferencing hardware is expensive, slow and requires extensive IT support to configure ports and firewalls in order for all systems to communicate with one another. With each acquisition Telit has made, there was a need to implement video conferencing capabilities immediately in order to facilitate communication and help reduce costly travel expenses. Blue Jeans provides a flexible, scalable solution to easily connect Telit's global employee base over video.
Telit reached out to Naotech Communication Group, an established professional solutions provider, to help identify a solution that would solve their collaboration challenges.
Since installing Blue Jeans' cloud-based video service in 2013, Telit has been conducting everything from executive meetings, to team collaboration sessions to interviews over the service. Adoption of the service has spread quickly and Telit's usage has tripled over the last two years. Employees are taking full advantage of the interoperable capabilities of Blue Jeans by connecting to meetings via room systems, tablets, desktops and mobile devices. Prior to deploying Blue Jeans, outfitting a new office with video conferencing equipment and making it fully operational could take as long as two months. That time has been reduced to a few minutes with Blue Jeans accounts being easily provisioned, enabling employees to immediately begin collaborating face-to-face, even across vast distances.
The recruiting and hiring process has also been streamlined; when looking for candidates in North America and China all the initial interviews and meetings take place over Blue Jeans. Additionally, Telit has seen travel costs dramatically reduced by substituting a number of their in-person executive meetings, which would have required expensive flights and hotels, with Blue Jeans meetings.
