Did you know that more than 70% of organizations use cloud meeting solutions for internal collaboration and meetings? That number is higher than ever before, and it is only a small part of the equation. Employees are also using video meetings for external calls with customers and partners, presentations, training sessions, and more. The digital transformation is here, and the way we work is changing with it.
Think back to the first virtual communications technologies you used—likely WebEx, Skype for Business, or something similar. Fifteen years ago, a virtual platform that merged conference calling with screen sharing was innovative. It combined the best of both worlds and made it easier to get work done.
But when you think of the work you do today, so much has changed. Employees in the 21st century are more tech-savvy than ever, and they are accustomed to working whenever they wish from wherever they choose. The tools that they use must support this new era of work, and they must work in every situation.
BlueJeans recently conducted the Global Survey of Meeting Solutions to provide insight on how people understand and use cloud meeting solutions. More than 900 people completed the survey with 300+ respondents each from the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia. For each country, at least 100 of the respondents were employed in the IT department, and at least 200 respondents were employed in non-IT departments.
We are excited to announce that the data from this survey is now available in a downloadable report: State of the Modern Meeting 2018. It discusses why, where, and how people meet and it uncovers the most commonly cited barriers to productive collaboration. We discuss what is most important to employees in choosing (and using) meeting solutions, and we back it with data from around the world.
If you are a business or IT professional chartered with helping your teams be more productive, you owe it to yourself to understand the data and where the modern workplace is trending:
- A growing diversity of work sites including cafés, hotels, airports, and vehicles
- More virtual meetings, both scheduled and spontaneous
- A new set of productivity killers for a mobile, globally dispersed workforce.
Whether you are just in the beginning stages of choosing a meetings solution, or you’re trying to readjust your virtual meeting strategy, this report will help you understand how your employees think about their meeting solutions—both today and in the future. Virtual meetings are the way people will increasingly work moving forward in a globally connected world. It’s time that we understand what that means for the modern workplace.
