Now that 2018 has come to a close, we can’t help but reflect on what an amazing year it was for all of us at BlueJeans.
A personal highlight for us was the launch of BlueJeans 2.0 in March, which was designed with the end-user in mind. We’re always striving to optimize our customers’ meetings experience, which is why our latest platform was tested on thousands of users to provide a fast, simple and delightful experience. And you responded by using the platform more than ever! Let’s take a quick peek at the numbers:
In 2018, our customers used over 4.1 billion minutes in 22.1 million meetings, saving over 100 billion miles of travel and preventing almost 40.5 billion pounds (18.3 million metric tons) of CO2 emissions. Way to go, Blue Crew!
But growth is about more than just the numbers. Here are some company highlights from the past year. In 2018, BlueJeans:
- Received nine prestigious awards from six leading organizations
Established companies including Gartner Peer Insights, G2 Crowd, TrustRadius, CRN, TMC Net and WebRTC honored BlueJeans throughout 2018 for our dedication to customers and product excellence. Many of these awards were the result of positive customer testimonials. Thank you all for the love!
- Elevated meeting experiences with BlueJeans Rooms with Dolby Voice
Through this strategic partnership announcement from October, Dolby and BlueJeans are providing integrated, world-class cloud audio, video and hardware solutions to organizations that demand their workforce have all the tools necessary to conduct the best meetings possible.
- Kicked off our very first ‘Think Forward’ City Tour
With stops in Atlanta, Dallas and San Francisco, BlueJeans and partner executives traveled for over four weeks and 8,412 miles to discuss how quantum theory and digital transformation tie together to impact the future of work. With a captivating keynote by world renowned physicist and author Brian Greene and a panel session to follow, the Think Forward tour was a big success! As a part of this, we also hosted a #BlueJeansChat conversation on Twitter on the topic of digital transformation.
- Increased meeting productivity with BlueJeans Gateway for Microsoft Teams
To help unleash the power of Microsoft Teams—the chat-based workspace in Microsoft Office 365—in October we announced the Gateway, which allows users to easily access Teams video meetings on any existing room system. The cloud-native infrastructure of BlueJeans Gateway turns all rooms into Teams meeting rooms.
- Welcomed multiple senior executives to the team
Great expansion comes with great leadership, and in 2018 we had the privilege of welcoming Matthew Collier as BlueJeans’ SVP of Strategic Business Development, George Mogannam as Chief Revenue Officer (CRO), Walt Weisner as BlueJeans’ Chief Customer Officer (CCO), and Barry Ruditsky as SVP, Global Channels. Additionally, we added Intuit CTO Tayloe Stansbury to our Board of Directors in October.
- Expanded our channel program chops
After successfully selling together in Asia Pacific and EMEA for the previous year, in July we announced a U.S. distribution agreement with Ingram Micro Inc. that allows a comprehensive network of U.S. channel partners to build meeting solutions for any business for a measurable and secure increase in productivity and collaboration.
- Made BlueJeans' APIs available for developing new meeting experiences
To enable innovative companies to use BlueJeans’ APIs to build new solutions with BlueJeans’ support, in March we announced our intent to work with strategic partners through our Technology Partner Program.
- Integrated with Workplace by Facebook and Voicera
In May, we announced our latest integration with Workplace by Facebook so users can instantly launch a BlueJeans meeting by simply adding @BlueJeans to their Workplace Chat. This powerful combination results in users getting both the flexibility of chat and the efficiency of face-to-face communications. With Voicera, in February we enhanced our ability to deliver a modern meeting experience, powered by AI, so that BlueJeans’ customers can now enjoy full meeting notes of all participants that are easily stored, shared, edited and retrieved for later reference.
- Earned recognition in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Meeting Solutions
Gartner is one of the world’s leading research and advisory firms, and the Gartner Magic Quadrant showcases industry-leading companies for their ability to meet customer needs. In September, Gartner named BlueJeans a 'Visionary' once again in the Magic Quadrant for Meeting Solutions, indicating that the product has important, unique, and/or well-developed technical capabilities, as well as key innovations that point to the future of the market.
- Released our State of the Modern Meeting 2018 research report
Organizations using modern meeting platforms are creating a competitive differentiator for their businesses by providing teams with the solution they need to act with greater agility, drive innovation, and ultimately improve business outcomes. To better understand this, BlueJeans conducted a global study (released in May) to see how people meet and what is most important to them when it comes to meeting solutions.
With so many exciting achievements and milestones to speak of, it’s clear the BlueJeans team was hard at work in 2018.
